What is this?

Small brown linen-bound book with printed cotton samples for men's shirting. Plain woven cottons with small-patterned designs. Some have animal motifs like horses and birds. Contains seventy-eight samples. Some pages not used.

This is a printer's sample book from United States. It is dated 1882–88 and we acquired it in 1945. Gift of Frederick J. Whitehead from the collection compiled by his father Cornelius Whitehead at the Pacific Print Works of Lawrence, Massachusetts. This object is currently resting in our storage facility ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
